History

Heat Pump Air Conditioning Ltd (HPAC) was established in 1986, originally as Temperature Maintenance Ltd, and has now grown to be a local market leader for residential and commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and associated after sales servicing.
HPAC is proudly a locally owned and operated business with local investment support and a permanent staff of 26.
In 1986 the core business was with the commercial refrigeration industry but as this market began to decline HPAC shifted focus to the burgeoning heating and cooling market. Rapid advances in technology have now made available a heating and cooling product with outstanding environmental and economical credentials which sees HPAC well positioned in today’s eco conscious and cost focussed marketplace.

In the late 1980’s the company was one of the key players in establishing heat pump technology as a clean, economical alternative to the Christchurch heating and cooling market, utilising well known and trusted brands such as Temperzone, Carrier, Toshiba, Mitsubishi Electric and Sanyo.

Daikin established themselves in the NZ market in the early 1990’s and were quick to recognise the success and ongoing potential of HPAC and subsequently invited the company to become one of the first Daikin Dealers in New Zealand - a partnership that has gone from strength to strength ever since.

HPAC is currently the number 1 Daikin Dealer in New Zealand and as a result the business is able to leverage products and pricing to our customer’s advantage.

As the Heat Pump and Air Conditioning market grew and diversified through the 1990’s the business was re-positioned to move with these changes.
This required significant investment in the company infrastructure with the culmination of relocating to larger, more prominent premises on Blenheim Rd, and the re-branding of the business to the current name of Heat Pump Air Conditioning Ltd.

The expansion of the business has been a critical move to meet the growing HVAC industry needs and has resulted in the development of specialist skills in the areas of heating, cooling, ventilation, heat recovery, heat pumps / hot water heat pumps and complete system design.

As the business grew and cemented its reputation as the local market leader it has been able to attract key people from within the industry which has resulted in a team with extensive product knowledge and an exceptional skill base throughout the entire business.

HPAC is equally adept at the smallest domestic installation right through to designing and installing of systems for the most complicated multi-story building, laboratory, low and high occupancy offices, schools, banks, hotels, or any other premises requiring heating / ventilation / air conditioning.
